The Medway Challenging Behaviour Further Education Service, a transition service designed and developed by a multi agency Management Board, provides accommodation, 24-hour care and access to the local mainstream Further Education college for four young people (aged 16-25) with severe learning disabilities and challenging behaviour, all of whom have previously been placed out of area. This 20 minute DVD gives an overview of what the new service is and how it was developed.
"This service 'ticks' loads of the Government's 'boxes' for services for people with learning disabilities. It is person centred, it is local, it demonstrates effective partnership working between services, and it has been led by a parent. Moreover, it has achieved all this for a group of young people with very complex needs".
Rob Greig, National Director for Learning Disabilities
