How we can help

The Challenging Behaviour Foundation aims to:

  1. To provide information and support to parents/carers and professionals caring for individuals with severe learning disabilities and challenging behaviour
  2. To demonstrate how local service provision can be improved, and to actively facilitate such provision on a national basis
  3. To highlight the needs of those with challenging behaviour and to influence policy and practice on their behalf
  4. To promote research into challenging behaviour associated with severe learning disabilities and to disseminate the results of such research so that practical benefits are gained

Note: While anyone may at times display challenging behaviour, the work of the CBF is primarily aimed at helping those with severe learning disabilities. Severe Learning Disabilities (sometimes referred to as severe intellectual disability or severe mental handicap) is a developmental disability and refers to individuals who have either no speech or limited communication skills and require support with daily living skills such as dressing and eating.
