Family Support Worker – Applied Psychology placement

(4 days per week for 30 weeks)

Unpaid: expenses by agreement of up to £80 per week

An exciting opportunity, ideal for a student working towards a Psychology degree, to join a registered charity with a reputation for excellence in the field of learning disabilities.

You will liaise with leading academic authors in the field of learning disabilities to update written information sheets. Through researching information for and developing drafts of new information sheets or DVD scripts you will increase the range of information available to family carers who have a son/daughter with learning disabilities and behaviour described as challenging.

You will work on our information service to help answer email enquires from family carers and professionals about challenging behaviour, physical interventions and the education, health and social care systems.

You will evaluate the effectiveness of a Challenging Behaviour Foundation project and produce a written report.

You will be based at the Challenging Behaviour Foundation (CBF) office in Chatham. You will receive regular supervision from CBF staff and additional supervision from a clinical psychologist.
